Veteran-Owned Semper Savage is Shaking Up the World of Salad Dressing
There is a major problem in the salad dressing industry. Dressings and marinades you find on the shelf in your local grocery store include crazy ingredients like Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Calcium Disodium EDTA, high fructose corn syrup, and Sugar Dextrose. Bottom line, weird food chemistry has replaced simple and pure homemade recipes — the salad dressing crusaders at veteran-owned Semper Savage are on a quest to fix this.
“United States Marine Corps veteran John Currie and his wife Stacy think you should be able to pronounce the ingredients in your salad dressing and marinade.” You should also be able to find them in your pantry. Semper Savage products are homemade salad dressings and marinades you don’t have to make yourself. They’ve
done the work for you.
John has always loved great salad but knows to have a great tasting salad, you need an excellent salad dressing. John’s quest to find and provide a truly kickass salad dressing began as a teenager working at Gabby’s Pizza. After researching as much as he could, he kept attempting to create something great in his own kitchen. Full disclosure: he made a lot of really bad salad dressings over the years. But, it kept getting better.
While on active duty in the United States Marine Corps, John had his “aha” moment. He finally experimented his way into a truly kickass salad dressing. It contained no added sugar, no added salt, no chemicals or binders, and no water diluting the intense flavors. Just like he had learned at Gabby’s Pizza, the secret to great food was truly as simple as a tried-and-true recipe, natural ingredients, and exceptional execution.
At first, John was simply making salad dressing for his friends and family. John and Stacy lost count of how many people told them they needed to bottle this one-of-a-kind product. In October of 2018, Semper Savage was born. John and Stacy knew they needed a truly kickass name to go with their truly kickass dressing. They drew from John’s military experiences. Savage was the callsign used by his squadron in Afghanistan and was also descriptive of the fierce flavors of the products. On Veterans Day 2019, after over a year of preparation and hard work, Semper Savage launched with their new products: Savage Balsamic and Savage Centurion.
While salad dressing was what set John out for on his quest, the product they have delivered kicks salad in the rear and grilling into gear. It can be used on all types of meat and veggies. Because one of the main ingredients is extra virgin olive oil, Semper Savage products perform as well in the pan as they do on the grill or on a salad.
John and Stacy continue to experiment with new recipes for salad dressings and marinades, always on the quest to bring customers the most kickass salad dressing possible. They have several additional products ready to launch and will be increasing their product offerings very soon.
